🌳 Tree Inspect

Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 October 2026

Short version. Tree Inspect works offline. Your projects, photos, maps and GPS readings are stored on your device and are never sent to us. We have no Tree Inspect account and no server that receives your survey data. The free version shows adverts from Google AdMob, which collects some device data as described in section 5. Where the law requires it (for example in the UK and EEA) the app asks for your consent first, and you can change your choice at any time in the app. Payments are handled by Apple or Google.

1. Who we are

Tree Inspect (the “app”) is published by Moving Tree Ltd (“we”, “us”), a company registered in England and Wales, registered office 82A James Carter Road, Mildenhall, IP28 7DE, United Kingdom. We are the data controller for the limited processing described in this policy. Contact: kv17294691739@gmail.com (please put “Tree Inspect privacy” in the subject line).

This policy applies to the Tree Inspect app on iOS and Android (Android package com.treeinspect.app) and to this website. It is written to meet the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018; if you are in the EEA, the EU GDPR applies in a similar way.

2. Data stored on your device

The following data is created by you and stored only in the app’s private storage on your device. It is not transmitted to us.

We do not use your survey content, photos or location for advertising, analytics or any purpose other than providing the app’s features.

3. Device permissions

PermissionWhen it is usedIf you refuse
CameraWhen you choose to take a photo of a tree or a map.You can still attach an existing photo.
Photos / filesAttaching photos and maps, saving marked-up photos, importing and exporting files. Those attach, save and import actions are unavailable.
Location (precise, “while using the app” only)Only when you tap the GPS control on a Location field. The first time, the app explains why before your phone asks for permission. You can still type an address and pin trees on the map image. If you refuse, the app offers a shortcut to your phone’s Settings in case you change your mind.
Tracking (iOS only, free version)Asked once, after the advert consent message, only if adverts can be shown. It lets Google use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) for more relevant adverts. You still see adverts, but they are not personalised using the IDFA.
InternetStore purchases and subscription checks, adverts in the free version, and a short check of whether the device is online.Survey work continues offline.

You can withdraw any permission at any time in your device’s Settings.

How the GPS feature works

The first time you tap the GPS control, Tree Inspect shows a short explanation before your phone’s own permission prompt: location is used only to record where the tree is, the position is stored on your device with your survey, and it is not shared. The app remembers that you have seen this explanation. After that, your device’s permission setting decides whether GPS can be used. Location is read once per tap; the app does not request background (“always”) location.

4. Data that leaves your device

5. Advertising (free version only)

The free version of Tree Inspect shows a banner advert and may show an advert before some exports. These adverts are provided by Google AdMob (Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC). Tree Inspect Pro removes them.

When adverts are shown, the Google Mobile Ads SDK may collect and process data such as your IP address, approximate location derived from the IP address, device and operating-system information, advertising identifiers (for example the Android Advertising ID), and information about adverts shown and tapped. Google uses this data to deliver adverts, measure them, prevent fraud and, where permitted, personalise them. Your survey content, photos and GPS readings are never shared with the advertising SDK.

When the free version starts, before any advert is loaded, Tree Inspect uses Google’s User Messaging Platform (a certified consent management platform) to check whether consent is needed where you are. If you are in the UK, the EEA or Switzerland, or another region where consent is required, a consent message from Google is shown the first time. You can consent to personalised adverts, or choose your options, including refusing. The app only loads adverts when Google’s consent tools say adverts may be requested. If your choices allow only limited or non-personalised adverts, Google serves those instead. If you are offline or the check fails, the app keeps working; adverts are simply not shown until consent can be checked.

Changing your choice: open App options in Tree Inspect and tap Ad privacy choices to see the consent message again and change or withdraw your consent at any time. This option appears wherever Google requires it (for example in the UK and EEA). Tree Inspect Pro users do not see the consent message or any adverts.

iPhone and iPad: if adverts may be shown, iOS may also ask whether Tree Inspect can track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites (App Tracking Transparency). If you allow it, Google can use your device’s advertising identifier (IDFA) for advert personalisation and measurement. If you choose “Ask App Not to Track”, the IDFA is not available and you will still see adverts. You can change this at any time in Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking.

Android: you can reset or delete your Advertising ID, or opt out of ads personalisation, in Settings › Google › Ads (or Settings › Privacy › Ads, depending on your device).

For more information see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

6. Data we do not collect

Camera, photos and GPSConsent, given through the device permission and your tap on the control
Checking purchases and subscription statusContract, and legitimate interests in applying paid features fairly

8. Your survey data and your clients

You are the controller of the survey content you record (for example client names, addresses and photos of property). If you record other people’s personal data for your work, you are responsible for handling it lawfully. We cannot see or access this data.

9. Security

Data is kept in the app’s private storage, protected by your device’s operating system. Use a PIN, password or biometric lock on your device. Exported files are outside the app; keep them secure.

10. Retention and deletion

Because there is no Tree Inspect account and no server copy of your surveys, there is no account to delete.

11. Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to the processing of your personal data, to data portability, and to withdraw consent. Because your survey data stays on your device, you can exercise most of these rights directly in the app. You can also contact us at kv17294691739@gmail.com, and you have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).

12. International transfers

Apple and Google (including AdMob) may process data in the United States and other countries under their own safeguards. We do not transfer your survey data anywhere.

13. Children

Tree Inspect is a professional tool and is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.

14. Changes

We will update this page and the “Last updated” date if our practices change, for example if we add cloud backup or shared projects.
